Masirah gazelle spotted in National Biodiversity Survey

Muscat: The field team of the National Biodiversity Survey Project documented a recent observation of Masirah gazelle on Masirah Island in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. This observation is a positive indicator of the stability of this unique species, which represents a key component of the island's wildlife.

This observation, which includes a series of images captured by camera traps adopted as part of the project, confirms the efforts made by the Environment Authority and its partners to protect wildlife and conserve biodiversity in the Sultanate of Oman.

The project employs modern satellite-based technologies to monitor and track wildlife, in addition to relying on camera traps to document species in their natural habitats.

This observation represents a recent and important scientific addition that contributes to enhancing knowledge of local species and supports their protection plans and programs, in line with the Sultanate of Oman's efforts to conserve its unique natural resources.
